- Priority split: about 2,999 Priority 1 (20%), 6,144 Priority 2 (45%) and 5,157 Priority 3 (33%) (CCWG briefing).
- In the state HCPT cesspool data, Kapaa (96746) has about 5,400 cesspools, Kalaheo (96741) about 1,970 and Koloa/Poipu (96756) about 1,440.
Funding on Kauai
- County Grant 2: 50 reimbursement grants of up to $20,000 each, funded by the DOH Clean Water State Revolving Fund. Deadline extended to Oct 23, 2026, 4:30 pm, due to Hurricane Lowell. Conversions with approval to use before May 1 are ineligible, and Program 1 waitlisters must reapply. Apply through the Kauai County Housing Agency: housing@kauai.gov, 808-241-4444 (Kauai Now).
- Statewide loans (Act 120, 2026): low-interest or forgivable loans for low- and moderate-income homeowners, run by the Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority. Not yet accepting applications (DOH).
